Heartland of Owerri came from a goal down to end Kwara United’s three-game unbeaten run with a 3-1 win at the Kwara Stadium, Ilorin in the Glo Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match.

The hosts took the lead in the ninth minute through Ahmed Jimoh’s strike but it lasted only three minutes as Mohammad Mohammed equalised for the visitors from a well-worked team effort.

Jimoh Oni, who later replaced the injured Mohammed, put Heartland ahead in the 21st minute, capitalising on a defensive mix up by the hosts.

Bright Ejike then put the game beyond the reach of Kwara United benefitting from John Ibe’s pass to make it 3-1.

Heartland have now won three of their three games since the start of the season.

Ibrahim Shuaibu’s second-half goal earned Giwa FC a shock 1-0 away win over Enugu Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikwe to compound the woes of the fading Flying Antelopes.

A late goal from Godwin Obaje handed Wikki Tourists a 2-1 away win at Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

Ahmed Mohammed gave Wikki the lead before Chisom Chikatara levelled with a spot kick.

But Obaje’s stunning strike clinched the win for the visitors.

Kano Pillars defeated Enyimba 1-0 in the match of the week at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Pillars dominated the game and deservedly took the lead minutes into the break with Moses Ekpai long range effort beating Moses Ocheje in goal for the People’s Elephant.

Enyimba’s best chance came in the 57th minute when Daniel Etor led a counter attack with four Pillars players to beat but Chinonso Okonkwo dwelled too long on the ball allowing the defenders to regroup.

Sunshine Stars won their second game of the season as Prince Aggrey’s late strike earned them a 2-1 victory over Dolphins FC at the Akure Township Stadium.

Bayelsa United won their first after beating FC Taraba 1-0 at the Oghara Township Stadium.

Jafar Buhari scored the game’s only goal in the 72nd minute.
