Azu Ishiekwene, journalist, columnist and author, has released a new book titled ‘A Midlifer’s Guide to Content Creation and Profit’.
In a statement on Sunday, Ishiekwene said the book aims to help midlifers understand how to use new media tools to turn their creative strengths into profitable ventures.
He added that the ten-chapter book explores how older adults can engage profitably with the fast-changing media landscape, especially with the rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI).
“It shares insights with midlifers on the possibilities for rewarding their mental exertions handsomely, whether literary, artistic or acoustic talent, or the sheer capacity to curate and tell a good story from their experiences using new technologies,” he said.

‘A CHALLENGE TO MIDLIFE LIMITS’
Published by Premium Times Books, the new release is a sequel to “Writing for Media and Monetising It”, which came out in 2024 and has been described as a practical resource for young media and literary professionals.
In the foreword, Toyin Falola, professor of humanities and historian of African studies, described the book as a refreshing guide that redefines midlife productivity and ambition.

“The book is a groundbreaking work that challenges the widespread belief, especially among the older generation (Gen X), that aspirations should diminish after the age of 50,” he said.
Dapo Olorunyomi, publisher of Premium Times, said Ishiekwene’s latest work “is another masterpiece”, adding that the author “continues to gain new heights not only in mastering new media forms but also in his capacity to share his insights in meaningful ways”.
Beyond authorship, Ishiekwene has published a workbook on content monetisation and delivered several lectures.
He also co-authored a scholarly article with Farooq Kperogi, titled “Light in a Digital Black Hole: Exploration of Emergent Artificial Intelligence Journalism in Nigeria”, published in the Journal of Applied Journalism and Media Studies.
