Olusegun Osoba, former governor of Ogun state, on Tuesday described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “his father’s house”, saying he is glad to be back there.

Speaking in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, at the public presentation of a book authored by Alani Bankole, father of Dimeji Bankole, former speaker of the house of representatives, Osoba acknowledged the mediatory roles played by two prominent traditional rulers in the state.

He revealed the identities of the monarchs as Adedotun Gbadebo, alake of Egbaland, and Sikiru Adetona, awujale of Ijebuland.

Referring to the kings as “bridge builders”, Osoba described his absence from the party as “a period of leave of absence”.

“I am a founding father of the APC,” he said.

“If I take a leave of absence from my own house, will I not return to my father’s house?”

Chieftains of the APC in south-west held a reconciliatory meeting with Osoba at his Ikoyi residence on Sunday, after which his return to the party was announced.

Osoba defected from APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) shortly before the 2015 general election.
