Badaru: My government increased Jigawa’s GDP from N1.1trn to N2.6trn in seven years

Abubakar Badaru, governor of Jigawa, says his government has increased the state’s gross domestic product (GDP) from N1.1 trillion to N2.26 trillion.

A statement issued by Habibu Kila, his special adviser on media and publicity, quoted the governor as saying.

The statement added that as part of the 31st anniversary of the state, Badaru said his government recorded significant improvement in all sectors of human endeavour.

On Saturday, Abia, Adamawa, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kogi, Osun, Taraba and Yobe states celebrated the 31st anniversary of their creation.

Citing economic and social development, the governor said the agricultural sector “witnessed a tremendous amount of improvement”.

“The governor met the state’s GDP at N1.1 trillion in 2015. Now according to the National Bureau of Statistics, the present GDP of the state is N2.26 trillion,” the statement reads.

“Our government had worked assiduously to sustain the tempo of ongoing transformations, particularly as regards the provision of infrastructure for economic development, sustained human capital development and most importantly, the pursuit of agricultural transformation as means of diversifying the state’s economy and a means of sustainable livelihoods for the people.”

He commended past administrations, including military and civilian governors, for their notable roles in the development of the state.
