Bandits kidnap APC women leaders ‘returning from Uba Sani’s inauguration’

Bandits have reportedly kidnapped two women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna state.

TheCable understands that the victims were returning home on Tuesday after attending the inauguration ceremony of Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna state.

Ishaq Usman, chairperson of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU), told TheCable on Wednesday that the two women leaders were kidnapped alongside many travellers at Manini area of Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road.

Usman identified the victims as Lami Awarware, APC women leader in Birnin-Gwari LGA and Haulatu Aliyu, her assistant.

The chairperson added that the Kaduna to Birnin Gwari road is notorious for kidnapping and that many people are being kidnapped along the axis almost on a daily basis.

“After the inauguration on Monday, they left Kaduna for Birnin Gwari on Tuesday, ” he said.

“On their way to Birnin Gwari, their vehicles were attacked by these terrorists. They kidnapped the APC women leaders and others.”

Mohammed Jalige, Kaduna police spokesperson, did not respond to calls and text messages when TheCable reporter tried to contact him for a reaction.
