Bandits kill two residents, abduct 16 in Kaduna community

Bandits have reportedly killed two people and abducted 16 others at Gidan Busa community in Kachia LGA of Kaduna state.  

A resident told TheCable that the bandits invaded the community on Friday at about 11:30 p.m.

He said the bandits killed two people and injured five others during the attack, adding that eight of the abducted victims were from the residence of one Alhaji Hassan.

“On Friday night bandits came to Gidan Busa and abducted 16 residents, killing two while five sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital,” the source said.

“At the residence of one Alhaji Hassan, the bandits abducted eight persons including his wife and children. They also killed one of his boys and a woman.

“Five people sustained injuries from gunshots and were taken to the hospital for treatment.”

When contacted, Mansir Hassan, spokesperson of the police in Kaduna, said he was in transit and promised to get back.

He was yet to respond at the time of filing this report.

Kaduna communities have been plagued by attacks by bandits in the past week.

On February 18, 11 people were killed in an attack by bandits in Gindin Dutse Makyali village of Kufana district, Kajuru LGA of the state.

Meanwhile, troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) have killed two bandit leaders behind the abduction of students of Greenfield University in the state.
