Banky W Nigerian R&B singer and Empire Mates Entertainment label boss has breached a major milestone for celebrity influencers, reaching a million followers on Twitter.
Banky W joins an exclusive list of Nigeria’s hottest and most influential artistes commanding a million followers such as Davido (1.2m) D’banj (1.1m), Tiwa Savage (1m), Wizkid (1.5m), and Don Jazzy (1.1m)
Banky posted a message celebrating this achievement with his CIROC brand sponsors and thanking all his fans and followers.
“A big thank you to everyone that supports me worldwide,” he wrote. “I wouldn’t be here without you guys. Much luv!!”
The 34-year-old started his music career in the United States while he was on scholarship Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, studying for an Engineering degree.
He showed his undeniable talent from the get go with relative success in the United States, winning R&B Soul Artiste award at the Urban Independent Music Awards and John Lennon Song writing Award in the R&B Category amongst many others.
Banky’s big break in the Nigerian entertainment industry came with widespread success of the song, Ebute Metta, a remake of Rihanna’s Umbrella featuring Jay-Z.
Since then, he has consistently released quality music with widespread appeal across different spectrum of listeners.
Banky’s most recent work include uplifting song Jaiye Ori Mi, released in 2014, and his last album R&BW launched in February 2013 includes the memorable sing-along track Yes/No Good Good Loving.
