Nana Abraham of Barau FC stabbed in the neck during NPFL away match against Katsina United
Barau FC says Nana Abraham, the club’s player, was stabbed in the neck by a pitch invader during a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) game at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
In a chat with TheCable, Ahmad Gwale, the club’s director of media operations, said the attack happened during Barau FC’s 1-1 draw away at Katsina United on Saturday.
He said the incident happened shortly after Barau FC equalised in the 69th minute.
Gwale said “one person from the Katsina United bench or one of their fans” invaded the pitch and struck Abraham on the neck.

The club’s spokesperson claimed that the assailant was armed with “something like a sharp object”.
Pictures going viral on social media show an injured Abraham on the floor in pain with blood stains around his neck.
The match was temporarily halted after the attack, but resumed shortly with the assaulted player substituted.

The episode comes a few months after Vincent Temitope, Plateau United striker, was also stabbed in the neck by an angry fan at the Lafia City stadium in Nasarawa.
