The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has scheduled a by-election for May 24 in Shira LGA to fill the positions of chairman and deputy chairman.
This follows the impeachment of the former executives on allegations of maladministration.
Ahmad Makama, the chairman of BASIEC, announced the date of the by-election at a news conference in Bauchi on Thursday.
Makama said the commission has completed preparations for the by-election, including training of ad-hoc staff and making logistic arrangements.
