The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau has congratulated Simon Lalong over his victory at the national assembly election petitions tribunal in the state.

On Monday, the tribunal declared Lalong, a former governor of the state, as the winner of the Plateau south senatorial district election.

The tribunal upturned the election of Napoleon Bali, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who was declared winner of the February 25 poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The commission had announced that Bali secured 148,844 votes while Lalong scored 91, 674 to come runner-up.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Sylvanus Namang, APC spokesperson in Plateau, said the judgment was satisfactory to the party.

“The landmark judgment is illuminating and puts to rest the controversy that PDP has no legally constituted executives in the state,” the statement reads.

“The judgment, we believe, is a clear roadmap to better days ahead for the APC in the state in the remaining Plateau tribunal judgments.
