Blood shortage hits Kano bomb victims

Victims of Monday’s bomb attack at Kano School of Hygeine currently receiving treatment at the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital are in dire need of blood donation.

The blast killed eight persons and injured 20 while they were on a queue to collect their admission letters.

Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had ordered free treatment for the survivors of the blast but the hospital does not have enough blood in its black.

TheCable, on a visit to the hospital, spoke with some of the visitors who said they were there to donate blood to their relatives.

Some of the students were at the hospital to donate blood to their colleagues.

There were also visitors who brought relief materials, while some said they came to identity their relatives among the victims.

Twenty injured students are currently receiving treatment at D-ward of the hospital.

The emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, visited the hospital on Tuesday (pictured) to commiserate with the victims.
