Troops of operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have reportedly killed a Boko Haram commander on Tuesday in Borno.

The commander, identified as Abu Hassan, was killed along with 13 terrorists.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the terrorists were killed when troops on patrol around the axis of Mafa opened fire on the terrorists who were trying to flee.

One of the terrorists was said to have been heard communicating with another commander in the camp of Abu Iklima, saying troops have killed many members of Boko Haram including Abu Hassan, their commander.

“Someone fired at us while we are withdrawing from the battlefield in Ngowom. We are on our way with the corpses. We are coming to Gaizuwa,” the terrorist was quoted as saying.

“Abu Hassan has slept (dead), Some of our fighters were also wounded, we may need emergency medical interventions. Please be on standby.”

The development comes weeks after troops of Hadin Kai killed six Boko Haram terrorists in the state.

The terrorists were said to have been killed during a patrol in which the terrorists hideouts were raided along the Kumshe-Banki road in Borno.

Meanwhile in October, troops of operation Hadin Kai repelled an attack by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno.

An ambush laid by the terrorists were said to have failed when the troops from the operation’s 21 armoured brigade engaged the terrorist between Kumshe and Bama.
