Boko Haram’s days are numbered, says Gaidam

Ibrahim Gaidam, governor of Yobe state, has expressed hope that activities of the Boko Haram sect would soon be a thing of the past.

Gaidam made the remark in a statement issued on his behalf by Abdullahi Bego, his special assistant on media.

“In view of the all-hands-on-deck approach adopted by the federal government, insurgency will soon come to an end,” the statement read.

Gaidam condemned Wednesday’s suicide attack in Damaturu which led to the loss of 18 lives and injured.

He described the attack as “barbaric and cowardly” and urged security agencies to step up surveillance to prevent further attacks.

He condoled with the families of the deceased and ordered immediate and free medical treatment for those who sustained injuries in the attacks.

“Already three out of the injured victims have been referred to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala Kano for further medical care at government expense” the statement read.
