Government College, Makurdi, Benue State, is the next target of Boko Haram’s assault on educational institutions, Principal of the school, Mr. Godfrey Ugudu, revealed on Saturday.

Mount Saint Gabriel Secondary School, located opposite the college, was also threatened with an attack.

According to Ugudu, who was speaking at a news conference in Makurdi on Saturday, the school was in possession of two letters from Boko Haram threatening an attack.

“It is true that we saw two letters informing us of the intention of Boko Haram to invade our school on Friday or Monday,” Ugudu told NAN.

“The letters were dated May 14, 2014, stating that they were coming either of the two days to abduct our boys, whom they would marry to the secondary school girls abducted in Chibok.

“The two letters, which were written in Pidgin English, were sighted inside one of the classrooms; and the second one was slipped into the staff room.”

“We immediately alerted the Police and the commissioner for education. A report has been made to the governor on the issue,” he said, commending the government and security operatives in the state for their prompt response to the alert.

He assured students — especially the boarding students who are about 500 in number — that their safety in the school is guaranteed

Public Relations Officer of the Police in the state, Dan Ezeala, confirmed the report, but promised that no harm would befall the concerned schools.

The North of Nigeria is becoming a farcical place of existence for humans. Anyway, I am not surprised as Idomas of Benue are now Boko Haram fighters, but cannot defend their people against “Fulani Herdsmen”, who Paul Unongo insisted were Nigerian soldiers. Cry My Beloved Country!!!
