Joseph Boakai, president of Liberia, and Boris Johnson, former prime minister of the United Kingdom, are both in Nigeria for the ongoing Imo economic summit 2025.
Alongside the dignitaries are Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, first female president of Mauritius; Americo Ramos, prime minister of Soa Tome and Principe; and Vice-President Kashim Shettima,
Other speakers in attendance include Wale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy; Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote Group; Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa; and Abdullahi Ganduje, former governor of Kano.
The Imo state government had announced plans to host a two-day economic summit between December 4 and December 5 in Owerri.

The summit, themed ‘Unlocking Imo’s Economic Potential: Partnership, Investment and Innovation’, is expected to attract investments and promote partnerships.
In a statement on December 2, Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo, said the summit will be a platform to explore investment opportunities.
According to the statement, the event is headlined by Ban Ki-Moon, former United Nations secretary-general.
