Less than a month after the death of Uche Chukwumerije, a serving senator who represented Abia north senatorial district between 2003 and 2015, Ahmed Zanna, the lawmaker representing Borno central senatorial district, has also passed on.

Unlike Chukwumerije, Zanna, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won his re-election bid in April and was looking forward to his inauguration as a member of the 8th assembly in June.

Though Enyinnaya Abaribe, spokesman of the senate confirmed the death, saying it happened in Abuja in the early hours of Saturday, details of the death are still sketchy but he was said to have lost his battle to a terminal ailment.

Apart from Zannah and Chukwumerije, three other senators died in the 7th senate.
