NNPC declares Nigerian Pavilion open at OTC Texas

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has officially declared the Nigerian Pavilion at the 2019 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in the US, open.

Bello Rabiu, NNPC’s chief operating officer, upstream, represented the corporation’s group managing director (GMD) at the opening ceremony on Tuesday.

“I formally declare this 2019 OTC open. It is very important for me to show our appreciation to all the companies here present,” he said.

The NNPC COO said Nigeria’s consistent participation at the OTC is proof that the nation is keeping in step with technological advances, adding that one of the corporation’s major thrusts was to drive down the cost of crude oil production.

The NNPC had initially said Maikanti Baru, the NNPC group managing director will be on ground “to Highlight Nigeria’s Deepwater Potentials at 50th Offshore Conference in Houston”.

NNPC stated that the “focus will be on the different phases of deepwater developments, place of Nigeria in global deepwater operations and capacity growth in the local industry for deepwater operations”.

TheCable gathered that Baru was in Italy for another summit, where he was also representing the country.
