Biodun Olujimi, senator representing Ekiti south, has pulled out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election in Ekiti state.

Olujimi, who was one of the top contenders in the race, said she was disenfranchised by the party.

She said: “I came to drop my letter that I was pulling out of the process.

“What happened was that 14 local governments — four of them from my senatorial district — were given to a group of the party and the remaining two, where congresses should have held, nothing held.

“So today, the party asked me to use automatic delegates; 12 from my local government and 10 from Gbonyin local government, making 22 out of the 156 that I should have — and I feel disenfranchised.

“I feel like the party does not believe in my presence there. I believe the party does not believe in whatever I have done, so I have pulled out.”

When asked about her next course of action after pulling out, she said: “I will sit back and have a reflection and take a decision.”

Olujimi said she is not supporting any other aspirant, noting that it was never on the cards for her.

“The party does not believe in me, maybe it is my gender, that is possible,” she added.

“I need a little bit of introspection and then I will make a decision.”

Olujimi was in the race alongside Segun Oni, Kolapo Olusola Ereka, Bisi Kolawole, among others.
