Multiple blasts have been recorded at a bus station opposite the University of Jos in central Jos, Plateau state.

Ikedichi Iweha, spokesman of the joint taskforce in the state, confirmed the attack but details are still sketchy.

Ibrahim Hashidu, a driver at the park, told AFP that the first explosive device killed five people and injured several others.

“We rushed out after hearing the explosions to see what was happening,” he said.

“Moments later another device was thrown from the same car into the middle of grocers selling fruits in front of the motor park.

“Twelve people died and many others were injured.”

About 18 people were killed in a similar attack in Biu, a town in Borno state, still on Thursday.

Bus stations have been the target of suicide bombers in recent times.

About 30 people lost their lives in Yobe and Kano states, during suicide attacks on Tuesday.

A suicide bomber hit the Tashar Dan-Borno motor park in Potiskum, Yobe state and while the dust of that incident was yet to settle, another suicide bomber struck at Kano Line Motor Park, in the Naibawa area of Kano.

Though Jos is not new to such attacks, this is the first time that the sect will strike in the city in 2015.
