A bomb exploded few minutes ago beside a mosque in Tasomacha near Gombe state university, Gombe, “killing some people”.

According to a source who spoke with TheCable, the explosion occurred at about 6:50pm, after the Maghrib prayers.

“They were just rounding off the prayers when the thing happened,” he said.

“The suicide bomber wanted to enter the mosque, but before he reached the mosque, the thing exploded. The explosion affected him and other people by the road side.

“We don’t know the casualty toll yet, but it won’t be high. If the bomber had succeeded in entering the mosque, it would have been a different story.”

Gombe has recently been the subject of bomb attacks by suspected Boko Haram members.

On New Year’s Eve, a bomb went off at 301 Mammy Market, situated inside the only military barracks in the state; while on New Year’s Day, the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Tudun Wada, capital of the state, was also bombed.
