President Donald Trump will have a telephone conversation with President Muhammadu Buhari at 3:45pm on Monday.
Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, confirmed this to TheCable.
Buhari is currently on vacation in the United Kingdom.
Trump, who has been speaking with his counterparts across the world, has set aside Monday for two African presidents – Buhari and Jacob Zuma of South Africa.
Earlier, Geoffrey York, Africa correspondent for The Globe and Mail, tweeted about the diplomatic engagement between the leaders.
The diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the US is cordial, but there have been fears that the Trump administration might introduce some reforms that could affect Nigeria.
Although critics have accused Trump of being a racist, the US leader has denied the allegations, insisting that America’s interest is priority.
During his campaign, Trump met with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt at a New York Hotel. Hillary Clinton, his rival, also met with the Egyptian president.
