President Muhammadu Buhari met with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday.
The meeting was held at the council chambers in the presidential villa.
The meeting comes about a week to the special convention to elect a standard-bearer for the ruling party ahead of the 2023 polls.
The convention will be held between June 6 and 8.
Abdullahi Adamu, APC national chairman; Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF); and Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to the president, were present at the meeting.
After the meeting, neither the APC national chairman nor the governors spoke with journalists.
The APC commenced the screening of presidential hopefuls on Thursday.
So far, Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi, Emeka Nwajiuba, and a few others have been screened.
