Buhari to undergo ‘routine medical checkup’ during 10-day vacation

President Muhammadu‎ Buhari has written to the senate informing it of his decision to proceed on a 10-day vacation.

‎In the letter read by Senate President Bukola Saraki on Thursday, the president said his vacation would begin on January 23 and end on February 6.

He said that while he is away, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo would perform the functions of his office.

A statement issued by Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, said “during the vacation, the president will also undergo routine medical check-ups”.

In February 2016, Buhari took his first vacation since assuming office as‎ president.

‎Osinbajo acted as president in his absence in line with the constitution.
