Kayode Egbetokun
Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector-general of police (IGP), has announced the arrest of 28 suspects linked to the deadly attack in Yelewata LGA of Benue state.
On June 13, gunmen attacked Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma LGA of Benue, killing over 200 people, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and farmers.
In a stakeholders’ meeting held after the attacks, President Bola Tinubu criticised Egbetokun over the “failure” of the police to apprehend perpetrators of the attacks in the state.
The president said he expected the police to have made some arrests after the attack in Yelewata.
