The incident happened at about 9:21pm after the congregation of Isha and Tarawe prayers.

This is the third in two days – after a suicide attack on a church in Potiskum, Yobe state, and a double attack in Jos, Plateau state, on Sunday.

Boko Haram insurgents are the immediate suspects.

Kano has been the scene of some of the deadliests blasts carried in northern Nigeria, most notable being an attack on the emir’s mosque in late 2014.
