Security operatives have blocked the government house in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti state.

This created tension among residents of the area who scuttled to safety. The armed operatives fired gunshots into the air and released teargas.

The development comes 48 hours to the governorship election.

Ayodele Fayose, governor of the state, has alleged that security operatives were sent there to prevent a procession organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayose had told PDP members and his supporters to converge on the government house for a walk against the mega rally of the All progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Ekiti.

While it was ongoing, security agents prevented vehicles from going in and out of the government house but allowed pedestrians to go in.

Thirty thousand policemen have been deployed in Ekiti for the governorship poll, which has many candidates but is between Kolapo Olusola, incumbent deputy governor, and Kayode Fayemi, a former governor.
