On Thursday, Kwara discharged the first two patients to test positive for coronavirus in the state, after they tested negative to the virus.

Five members of the patients’ families, who were at the state’s isolation centre, were also discharged after testing negative twice to coronavirus.

A total of 128 people have been tested in the state. Of that figure, 87 have been cleared as negative, while others are pending.

Earlier on Friday, at the presidential task force on COVID-19 briefing, Chikwe Ihekweazu, director-general of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), said while there are efforts to increase testing facilities across states, the major focus will be on scaling up the public sector.
