The organised labour has rejected President Bola Tinubu’s N25,000 provisional wage increment for the average low-grade worker to cushion the effect of the removal of the petrol subsidy.

TheCable understands that the labour is demanding a 100 percent wage increment as part of its requests in the ongoing meeting with the representatives of the federal government at the presidential villa, Abuja.

President Tinubu in his nationwide broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary on Sunday morning announced the provisional wage increment.

“Based on our talks with labour, business and other stakeholders, we are introducing a provisional wage increment to enhance the federal minimum wage without causing undue inflation,” Tinubu had said.
