National security council meets Buhari in Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over a meeting of the national security council in Abuja.

This comes amidst unrest and curfews imposed by state governors to calm rising tensions.

In attendance are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Boss Mustapha, the secretary to the government of the federation; Ibrahim Gambari, the chief of staff to the president, and Babagana Monguno, the national security adviser.

The service chiefs at the meeting include Gabriel Olonisakin, the chief of defence staff; Tukur Buratai, the chief of army staff; Ibok Ekwe Ibas, the chief of naval staff; and Sadique Abubakar, the chief of air staff.

Mohammed Adamu, the inspector-general of police; Yusuf Bichi, director-general of National, Department of State Services are also present at the meeting.

Ministers in attendance include Bashir Magashi (defence); Rauf Aregbesola (interior); Mohammad Dingyadi (police affairs) and Geoffrey Onyeama(foreign affairs).
