Imo joins the list as Nigeria confirms 87 new COVID-19 cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 87 new cases of COVID-19 in nine states.

This was disclosed on the Twitter handle of the agency on Saturday night.

According to the breakdown, 33 were confirmed in Lagos, 18 in Borno, 12 in Osun, nine in Katsina, four each in Kano and Ekiti, three each in Edo and Bauchi, and one in Imo.

The number of discharged patients increased from 208 to 222, while the number of fatalities increased from 32 to 35.

As at 11:55 pm on April 25, 1,182 confirmed cases of COVID-19 had been reported in Nigeria.

Nigeria crossed the 1,000 mark on Friday, when the number of confirmed cases jumped from 981 to 1,095 cases.

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) had expressed concern over the number of health workers who have tested positive for coronavirus.

In a statement, the association appealed to the government to ensure adequate provision of personal protective equipment and other medical supplies for health workers.
