The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the 2018 World Cup holding in Russia.

Nigeria on Saturday defeated the Chipolopolo of Zambia in Uyo, Akwa Ibom to make it through to the biggest tournament in world football.

The match ended 1-0, with Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi scoring the lone goal.

The Eagles did not start with as much intent as expected by the full house at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

The Chipolopolo of Zambia frustrated the Eagles’ attempts at scoring but the Nigerian side found a breakthrough after Iwobi came on for KAA Gent forward Moses Simon.

The Arsenal forward proved to be the game changer the Eagles needed when he calmly converted Shehu Abdullahi’s pass in the 73rd minute.

The three-time African champions are the first African team to qualify for the World Cup, despite having an outstanding game to play against Algeria in November.
