Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has left the country for London, where he is expected to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Osinbajo left after presiding over the quarterly presidential business forum at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Laolu Akande, media aide of the acting president, had initially denied that Osinbajo was leaving the country, saying the acting president would only be travelling to Lagos.

But Akande later tweeted that his principal would meet Buhari in London, and return to Abuja at the end of the meeting.

Osinbajo is expected to preside over the weekly federal executive council meeting at the presidential villa.

This is the first time the acting president is officially visiting Buhari since he travelled to the UK for medical treatment a second time this year.

Buhari first left for the UK in March, and he returned in April. He travelled to the UK a second time in May.

A few days ago, Aisha, wife of the president, travelled to the UK to be with her husband. This was 33 days after her first visit.

On Monday, she posted on her Facebook page that “hyenas and jackals” – implying enemies of the president – will be chased out of the “kingdom” when her husband returns.

There have been speculations about the health of the president, but the presidency insists that there is no cause for alarm.
