Gideon Aremu, lawmaker representing Orelope constituency in the Oyo state house of assembly, has been killed.

A source confirmed this to TheCable, saying the unfortunate incident happened in the late hours of Friday.

The source said Aremu’s assailant trailed him to his Alakia residence in the Egbeda local government area of the state, before opening fire on him.

Aremu was the only opposition lawmaker in the constituency, as his other nine colleagues are from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
