President Muhammadu Buhari has provided buses to convey members of the #Bringbackourgirls (BBOG) group to the inner precints of the presidential villa.

‎The BBOG group, who are scheduled to meet with the president on Tuesday, had converged on the Unity Fountain, Abuja, at 9am.

The procession was led by Obiageli Ezekwesili and Aishat Oyebode, but both of them could not endure the long trek to the villa, so they hopped into a jeep. That was before Buhari’s intervention.

Ezekwesili appeared unusually weak while the protesters were fewer than usual.

The group left for the villa at 10am, but stopped at the first gate, which is still a long distance to the main premises, before the buses were provided. The meeting with the president was fixed for 12pm.

Buhari will be the first president to grant audience to the BBOG group. Goodluck Jonathan, his predecessor, repeatedly refused to meet with the advocacy group‎.

The group is seeking to get firsthand information‎ from the president on his plans to rescue more than 219 Chibok girls in captivity since the night of April 14, 2014.
