Suspected thugs disrupted a meeting at the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna on Friday.

The incident happened around 7pm when stakeholders of the faction of the APC loyal to Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state, were holding a meeting at the secretariat located along Akilu Road, Kaduna.

Among those targeted were Yusuf Zailani, chief whip of the Kaduna state house of assembly and Abubakar Mamman, a member of the house of representatives.

As soon as the suspects sighted the lawmakers, they swooped on them. They followed the legislators out of the premises and used sticks on their vehicles.

Despite the presence of their security guards, the attackers blocked the vehicles of lawmakers.

It took a reinforcement team of the police for the situation to be brought under control. The police fired teargas and several shots in the air to disperse them.

Journalists fled just as motorists plying the ever-busy Ali Akilu road used alternative routes.
