Tinubu nominates Bernard Doro as humanitarian minister

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau state as the humanitarian minister.

The nomination was contained in a letter forwarded to the senate for confirmation and announced on Tuesday by the State House.

“President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a letter to the Senate seeking the confirmation of Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on Information and strategy, said.

Doro’s nomination follows the election of Nentawe Yilwatda, former minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in July.

Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa LGA of Plateau state, Doro is said to have over two decades of multidisciplinary experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

The statement added that Doro holds degrees in pharmacy and law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a masters in advanced clinical practice.

The nominee is also an independent prescriber and advanced clinical practitioner with frontline experience under the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), where he has worked across urgent care, walk-in centres, general practices, and hospital settings.

Onanuga said Doro has also led youth mentorship and social impact initiatives both in the diaspora and in local communities.

The senate is expected to screen and confirm Doro’s nomination in the coming days.
