The budget office of the federation says the full-year 2024 budget performance report will be released by the end of September.
In a statement on Friday, the office said the report will be accompanied by consolidated reports for the first quarter (Q1) and second quarter (Q2) of 2025, after which quarterly publications will resume on schedule.
The bureau attributed the delay in publishing budget implementation reports since Q2 2024 to the care taken to ensure accuracy during Nigeria’s transition to an extended fiscal framework.
According to the office, there is also ongoing strengthening of monitoring systems and digital integration to guarantee future reports are timely, credible, and of the highest integrity.

“This delay should not be seen as backsliding, but as a reflection of the care taken to ensure accuracy and credibility in Nigeria’s fiscal reporting during an exceptional budget cycle,” the bureau said.
“By the end of September 2025, we will publish the full-year 2024 Budget Performance Report alongside the outstanding Q1–Q2 2025 reports, after which quarterly releases will resume on schedule.
“Our commitment to transparency, timeliness, and accountability remains unwavering.”

The budget office added that beginning with Q3 2025, all budget implementation reports will be published on schedule in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Act (FRA) requirements.
According to the FRA, the federal government is mandated to publish a consolidated budget execution report within six months after the end of each financial year.
In July 2025, Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house of representatives, said it is not enough to pass budgets — parliament must track the impact.
