Buhari appoints Atuonwo Obinna as PPPRA chairman
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Atuonwo Obinna as the new chairman of the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) for a four-year term.
PPPRA is a federal government agency that determines and fixes the prices of petroleum products in Nigeria.
Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, made this known in a statement on Friday.
Adesina said the president also approved the reappointment of Abdulkadir Saidu Umar as the executive secretary of PPPRA.
According to the statement, Obinna’s appointment is in accordance with Section 2 (1-3) and 3 (a) of the PPPRA (Establishment, ETC) Act 2003.
He will replace Mohammed Buba who was appointed in 2016 as chairman of PPPRA, following the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) demand that the federal government reconstitute the agency’s board.
Recently, Buhari made new appointments across various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
On Thursday, the president appointed Emmanuel-Lyambee Jime as the executive secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) for four years.
On June 18, he approved the appointment of five new permanent secretaries in the Federal Civil Service.
He had also appointed Balarabe Ilelah as the director-general of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) this month.
