Buhari congratulates D’Tigress on Afrobasket victory
President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the female national basketball team D’Tigress for their victory at the Afrobasket tournament.
The Nigerian ladies braved the odds and defeated several African giants in the Afrobasket championship to not only become African champions but to also qualify for the World Basketball Championship slated for 2018 in Spain.
In his congratulatory message, President Buhari tweeted: “Congratulations to D’Tigress on the 2017 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament win, & qualifying for the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.”

The triumph is Nigeria’s third Afrobasket title after winning two back-to-back titles in 2003 in Mozambique and in Abuja two years later.
