President Muhammadu Buhari met with Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, and Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of  Ondo state, at the presidential villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

El-Rufai and Akeredolu arrived at Aso Rock around 3.15pm and walked straight into the office of the president.

The purpose of the meeting was unknown as of the time of filing this report.

The meeting happened a day after the national working committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) disqualified Uba Sani, preferred candidate of el-Rufai for the Kaduna central senatorial district in 2019.

Shehu Sani, incumbent senator who was cleared for the primary, is at loggerheads with the governor.

The APC senate screening committee also cleared Ajayi Borrofice, senator representing Ondo north, against the wish of the state governor, who had wanted to dislodge him through a primary.
