President Muhammadu Buhari says he cannot cope with invitations by foreign governments as a result of the growing respect for Nigeria since he came to power.

He also said government officials caught stealing public funds now know they will face the law.

He was speaking on Thursday at the book presentation entitled: ‘Making Steady, Sustainable Progressive for Nigeria’s Peace and Prosperity: A mid-term scorecard on the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration.’

The book is authored by Femi Adesina, Garba Shehu and Laolu Akande, spokesmen of the president and vice-president.

“Internationally, Nigeria is now a respected nation. I can’t keep up with invitations to visit other countries much less for other countries leaders that want to visit us,” he said.

“A number of world leaders are expressing the desire to visit Nigeria virtually on monthly basis.”

Buhari also said “we are all aware now that if you steal public funds and you are caught, you will face the law”.

He revealed that after coming out of recession, government has put in place measures to ease the economic hardships, and reassured Nigerians on his commitments to improve security, fight corruption and restructure the economy.

“We have gone through difficult times due to worldwide economic recession. We are coming out of recession and government efforts are targeted at easing economic hardships with more jobs, social security platforms for vulnerable families, and unemployed and infrastructural progress,” he said.
