Buhari hosts George Weah in Aso Rock
President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with Liberia President George Weah in the presidential villa, Abuja.
Weah, who arrived at the villa around 12:30pm on Monday, was received by the president and other top government officials.
The meeting is taking place inside the president’s office.
This is Weah’s visit to Nigeria since he was elected president.
He emerged Liberia’s president after a run-off election contested between him and Joseph Boakai, who had been the deputy of outgoing President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for 12 years.
His swearing in on January 22 was the country’s first democratic transition in over 70 years.
He had first run in 2005 when he formed the Congress for Democratic Change but succumbed to Sirleaf. Then in 2011, he came second as a vice-presidential candidate.
Prior to his swearing in, he was the senator for Montserrado county in Liberia, having been elected in 2014.
