President Muhammadu Buhari met with Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Monday.

Idris, who will clock 60 on Tuesday, is expected to retire from the force. He reached the mandatory 35 years in service on January 3.

He arrived at the presidential villa around 4.30pm and proceeded to the president’s office immediately.

Buhari appointed Idris on March 21, 2016, to replace Solomon Arase.

He enlisted into the force in 1984, after graduating from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture.

There are indications that this is the last official meeting between Buhari and Idris.

Adamu Mohammed, a former commissioner of police in Enugu state, has reportedly been appointed to take over from Idris in acting capacity.
