Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is contesting next month’s election with only one thing in mind, which is to “rescue Nigeria from recession, corruption and other problems”.

Silas Agara, the Nasarawa state governorship running mate, said this in Lafia, capital of the state, on Sunday during an interview with NAN.

“Buhari is an upright person who has nothing to gain in deceiving Nigerians,” Agara said.

“If you study him as a person, you will notice clearly that this man has one goal in mind and that is to rescue Nigerians from recession, corruption and so many other problems that are facing us.

“Even the opposition admits that he is a man of trust and incorruptibility, and that is why they are very worried now.”

Clement Godwin, a resident of the city, expressed little surprise about Buhari’s growing admiration across the country.

“Going by his antecedents, this is not a surprise to me,” he said.

“We all know him to be a man who keeps his word. He is in politics because it is the only medium available to get to the position where he can help Nigerians regain what we have lost over the years.’’

Lizzy Oyelade, described Buharii’s manifesto and plans for Nigeria as well in tandem with the needs of the country’s ciitizens.

“I believe that he can change the country for good. You will realise that issues on corruption, insecurity, unemployment and youth restiveness are constant in his campaign,” she said.

Mallam Ahmed Abubakar, another resident, expressed belief that Buhari will change Nigeria like Governor Umaru Al-Makura has done in Nasarawa state.

“When Al-Makura came on board, not many people believed he would do much,” he said.

“But look at Nasarawa today; are you not proud of the transformation? General Buhari will also transform Nigeria for the better; I strongly believe that.”
