President Muhammadu Buhari has commended Aisha Auwal and Jamila Muhammed – two students from Kano state, who made first class in their master’s degree programme at an Indian university.

The students are beneficiaries of the state foreign scholarship scheme.

The president granted private audience to them during his recent trip to India.

Asking Nigerian students to emulate them, Buhari commended the Kano state government for sponsoring their education.

The students, who gave “prayers and hardwork” as the secret behind their success, expressed excitement over meeting the president.

“It is the greatest day of my life. I feel honored to meet President Buhari, my hero, and lover of the Nigerian masses. The experience will remain indelible for life,” said Muhammed.

Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano state, showered encomiums on them, saying the government would be willing to absorb them into the public service whenever they returned home.

Auwalu had her primary education at Kano Capital School, and left secondary education in 2001 before gaining admission to the Bayero University, Kano, where she studied applied biology.

Muhammed attended the Federal Government Girls College, Minjibir, Kano, before gaining admission to Ado Bayero University to read Computer Science.
