Buhari renominates Edward Adamu, Aisha Ahmed as CBN deputy governors

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the senate to confirm the nomination of Edward Adamu and Aisha Ahmed for a re-appointment as deputy governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)

The request for re-appointment will be for the second and last term in the position.

In 2018,  Buhari approved the appointment of Adamu as the deputy governor of the CBN.

Adamu became director, human resources in 2016, from where he was nominated as deputy governor.

On the other hand, Ahmed was first nominated deputy governor in 2017.

Buhari’s latest renomination request for a second term was contained in a letter read by Ahmad Lawan, senate president, on the floor of the red chamber on Tuesday

According to the letter,  Buhari said the request was pursuant to section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) (establishment) act 2007.

In a separate letter, Buhari asked the senate to screen and confirm the nomination of Ayuba Ngbako from the federal capital territory (FCT) for an appointment as a member of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

Meanwhile, Buhari also transmitted the 2023 statutory budget proposals of the FCT to the senate for consideration and approval pursuant to section 121 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
