President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to speak at the first National Policy and Development (N-POD) Summit organised by the office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF).

The summit themed: ‘Interrogating the Change Agenda: Challenges and Lessons Learnt’ is scheduled for Tuesday at International Conference Centre in Abuja.

In a statement on Monday, Ibrahim Bapetel Hassan, senior special assistant to the president on policy development, said the summit will review the administration’s change agenda with a view of highlighting its successes.

Hassan said there is need for successes of Buhari administration to be reviewed, hence the summit.

“President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office with a promise of ‘change’ amidst plethora of challenges that pose existential threat to Nigerians and Nigeria,” he said.

“With no easy way out of the inherited challenges, the government was confronted with two choices and the choice were either the government does the right things to reposition the country and deliver services to the country or do the wrong and deepen the suffering of Nigerians.

“The government choose the former, hence the focus on securing the country and the purpose of the summit. Since the federal government’s change agenda is a journey with growth and development as the ultimate goals, there is need for a review of the journey so far.

“To this end, we want to communicate the milestones that have been covered, analyse the challenges encountered in the course of implementing the various policies of government and of course plan for a better future better future. Hence, the purpose of the summit.”
