President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the electorate to collect money from politicians if offered but must vote for the candidates of their choice.

NAN reports that Buhari spoke on Saturday after casting his vote at polling unit 003, Sarkin Yara A in Daura, Katsina state.

The governorship and house of assembly elections are taking place across the country today.

While speaking with journalists in Hausa and English, Buhari said his administration has been discouraging every act of vote-buying and monetisation of politics in the country.

He asked politicians involved in vote-buying and monetisation of politics to stop such acts.

“If they (politicians) still give you money, collect, but vote for your preferred candidates,” Buhari said.

He commended the electorate for their confidence in the All Progressive Congress (APC) during the presidential and national assembly elections conducted on February 25.
