Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, did not indict soldiers in the battle against Boko Haram, according to Osuagwu Ugochukwu, a lawyer.

Reacting to the reports that the army chief said the rate of attacks by Boko Haram had increased because of the lack of commitment by soldiers, Ugochukwu said the media quoted Buratai wrongly.

“General Buratai must have been quoted out of context in order to portray the Chief of Army Staff and Army as a whole as incompetent,” he said in a brief statement.

“Such publication casting the army chief in bad light is against national interest and aimed at weakening the morale of soldiers.

“Nigerians should discountenance the report as it is mischievous.”
