The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has warned Nigerians against transacting with SPEF Cooperative Society Ltd, UPIL Staff Cooperative Society Ltd and PREM Staff Cooperative Society Ltd.
In a statement signed by the management on Monday, the CAC said the three companies are operating with “fake certificates of incorporation” and “registration numbers not issued by the commission”.
The agency added that the cooperative societies were found to be using two different RC numbers each, all of which do not exist in the CAC’s official records.
“These companies are: SPEF Cooperative Society Ltd RC Number 1265884 & 512862,” CAC said.

“UPIL Staff Cooperative Society Ltd RC Number 1265837 & RC 553220.
“PREM Staff Cooperative Society Ltd RC Number 1265844 & RC 545901.”
The CAC cautioned that anyone who conducts business with these entities does so at their own risk.

“Anyone that transacts any business with the above-mentioned companies does so at their own risk,” the commission added.
On July 3, CAC launched a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered registration portal designed to speed up business registration in Nigeria.
According to the commission, the new platform allows for instant name reservations, automated business name suggestions, and same-day registration using only a national identification number (NIN).
The CAC also announced plans to review certain service fees starting August 1, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and delivery of its services.
